Short answer: yes, but the picture changed in the last year. Here's why Framer templates still stand out from templates on other platforms, and what to check before you buy one in 2026.
For a long time Framer reviewed every template submission by hand, and that review was strict. That's no longer the case: Framer has dropped manual review, and new templates go live on the Marketplace without anyone checking them first. The average quality bar that the old review used to guarantee is gone.
What hasn't changed is who builds for Framer. The platform still attracts working web designers rather than hobbyists, so the best Framer templates remain some of the best-looking templates on any platform. The difference is that now the range is wider: excellent templates and rushed ones sit side by side in the same catalog, and the Marketplace itself won't tell you which is which.
The publish date still tells you something, just not what it used to. Templates from 2023 and 2024 were built for an older version of Framer: expect missing CMS features, outdated components, and layouts that predate the current breakpoints. Recent templates are usually built on the newer tooling.
But recency alone no longer guarantees quality, because nobody reviews new submissions anymore. A template published last week may be polished or may be a quick clone of someone else's work. So treat the date as a filter, not a verdict: skip templates that look abandoned, then judge the recent ones on their own merits using the checklist below.
Since the Marketplace no longer filters for quality, that job is yours now. The question isn't just whether a template looks good in the thumbnail, but whether it's built well and right for your project.
A few things worth checking:
Number of pages — does it include everything your site needs, or will you be building pages from scratch?
CMS collections — if you need a blog, portfolio, or any dynamic content, make sure the template includes the right CMS structure.
Live preview — always click through the live preview before buying. Screenshots are polished; the preview shows you how it actually feels to use.
Customizability — how easy is it to swap colors, fonts, and layout? A good template should feel like a starting point, not a constraint.
When it was published — newer is generally better given how Framer's standards have evolved.

Some creators sell templates directly from their own sites — and these can be just as good, sometimes better. Independent stores often have templates that didn't make the Marketplace cut for reasons unrelated to quality (category saturation, timing), plus things like bundle deals and All Access passes you won't find on the official Marketplace.

Are Framer templates worth the money? Usually yes, if you pick well. A $49 to $99 template saves you dozens of hours of design and build work, and you can judge the design before buying through the live preview.
